So I've been trying for weeks networking my Vista laptop with my XP desktop. Nothing worked. I rebooted and rebooted and rebooted after change after change after change... and then I saw a lonely unreplied-to post at C-Net.

All it took was putting a password on my freaken user account on the Vista machine. That's all.

You think they'd mention that it disables file sharing if your damned account isn't password protected.
